Vocabulary refers to the words a reader knows. Listening vocabulary refers to the words a person knows when hearing them in oral speech. Speaking vocabulary refers to the words we use when we speak. Reading vocabulary refers to the words a person knows when seeing them in print. Writing vocabulary refers to the words we use in writing.

-Literacy Circle with a book of choice- A circle of students working together for projects and stories. The circle has 5-6 members, each consisting of a specific job. The jobs are as follows:
1. Discussion leader- Asks big questions, keep conversations rolling.
2. Connector- Connect the book in some way to anything. There are three forms. Text-Text (movies or books), Text-Self (connecting book to personal experience), Text-World (connecting text to anything in the world)
3. Predictor- Predict what will happen. How? Why?
4. Quote Person- Choose phrase, sentence, or a paragraph- anything with meaning.
5. Vocab Person- “Missionary”, How will you get students to remember the word/s?
6. Illustrator- Draws scenes or anything worth remembering.
